groundwater services

groundwater services GSI’s hydrogeologists are experts at finding groundwater, determining the extent and capacity of aquifers, and helping our private and municipal clients to develop this valuable resource. We conduct aquifer studies; create and interpret groundwater models; design wells, including collector wells; develop wells and wellfields; and assess water quality.

GSI specializes in aquifer storage and recovery (ASR), an innovative water resource technology that uses the natural storage capacity of an aquifer to store treated surface water underground for later use by agricultural and municipal clients. We have worked on numerous ASR projects in Oregon and Washington, and have more experience than any other firm worldwide in conducting ASR in basalt aquifers. We conduct ASR feasibility studies, implement ASR pilot programs, and, when results of the pilot programs are positive, we assist our clients to become fully self sufficient in the operation and maintenance of their ASR systems.

Our firm also has experience in all subsurface aspects of open-loop ground source heat pump (GSHP) systems, which are a proven technology that has been implemented in many cities. GSHPs are energy-efficient systems that use water supply wells to provide groundwater for equipment that heats and cools buildings.
